A Dialogue between Orator Puff and Peter Easy, on the
proposed plan or frame of Government. . . [near top of page
two:]
Orator: Poh! Peter, --that section is made only for the
common members of the Assembly, not for our Leaders. For
after they have sat four years in the Assembly, they will
then have rendered such important services to their country,
that they will be entitled to rise into seats in Congress
and Council, and after sitting two years in Congress and one
in Council, or three years in the last, which is the limited
time, then they go into the Assembly again--How admirably
are these things contrived! They fit to a notch: This
notion of simplicity, with respect to shifting from place to
place, was taken from that familiar and pleasing recreation
of innocent minds--
Here we go up, up, up,
And here we go down, down, downee.
Here we go backwards and forwards,
And there we go round, round, roundee.
